- Forty-seven percent of workers surveyed are confident in their ability to find a new job, an increase of 14 percentage points from February.
- Nearly three-quarters, 74 percent, report that they are unlikely to lose their job, a six-percentage-point increase from the previous month.
- More workers, 62 percent, are confident in the future of their current employer, an increase of three percentage points from February.
"Although job loss continued in New York in March, our latest report is much more positive than last month's," said Linda Perneau, vice president and general manager of Spherion Staffing Services. "The new found confidence is probably a result of the stock market rebound and economic stimulus which may be giving workers a sense that the much needed economic help is on its way. Despite the fact that we are still seeing decreases in available jobs in areas such as retail, financial services and construction, there is continued job availability in healthcare and education."
