Results from the New York Employment Report:
- Twenty-three percent of workers are not confident in the future of their current employer, an increase of 10 percentage points from June.
- Sixty-eight percent of workers believe that fewer jobs are available, a five-percentage-point increase from the previous month.
- Contrary to the previous month, fewer workers have confidence in their job security, with 70 percent reporting that they are unlikely to lose their job, a decrease of eight percentage points in July.
"Similar to most workers' attitudes across the nation, we have experienced a steady drop in worker confidence due to the economy's fluctuations and lack of broad-based job creation," said Linda Perneau, vice president of Spherion Staffing Services. "The bright spots in New York continue to be private sector opportunities, with health care and government positions leading the way in job creation. For those looking to change careers or planning their career path, these are still strong industries in this economy to consider."
