Scorelogix Job Security Index Increases by 2.4 Points in October, Reflecting Higher Job Security

Job Security Index (JSI) - established by Scorelogix in February of 2004, increased by a moderate 1.6% in October indicating growing job security for a majority of people in the nation. According to the JSI report, the East North Central and Middle Atlantic regions experienced the largest increase in job security from last month.

Workers in Idaho and Montana lead the nation with the lowest risk of job loss, with Idaho leading for the fifth consecutive month. Those in Michigan and Mississippi experienced the greatest risk of job loss nationally.

The largest rise in job security from last month occurred in the Fishing, Farming, and Forestry occupational categories. While sixty percent of the occupational categories experienced an increase, particularly outstanding growth transpired in Installation, Maintenance, and Repair occupations.

When comparing industrial job security, the Mining industry category not only has the largest rise in job security from last month, but now leads the industries with the highest job security index at 190.9. The Public Administration Government industry category comes in a close second while the Real Estate, Rental, and Leasing industry proves to be the third most secure industry when it comes to job retention and lowest risk of job loss, even with the housing market slump.
