RealtyTrac(R) released its March 2007 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which shows a total of 149,150 foreclosure filings - default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions - were reported during the month, up 7 percent from an adjusted February total and up 47 percent from a year ago. The report also shows a national foreclosure rate of one foreclosure filing for every 775 U.S. households during the month.

Increases in credit card interchange rates announced by Visa last week average only 0.6 percent, but the $36 billion in total interchange fees consumers paid in 2006 will probably increase close to 20 percent this year, the Merchants Payments Coalition said.

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.9 percent in March, before seasonal adjustment, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported. The March level of 205.352 (1982-84=100) was 2.8 percent higher than in March 2006.
