Regional and state unemployment rates were generally little changed in February. Overall, 24 states and the District of Columbia registered over-the-month unemployment rate decreases, 16 states recorded increases, and 10 states had no change, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported.

A recent survey about paying for health care found that a new tool is improving the process of health care spending and reimbursement. The survey, commissioned by the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA) and conducted by Kupersmit Research, found that consumers with prepaid health care cards, as part of their flexible spending account (FSA), were far more satisfied with being able to easily and efficiently pay for eligible health care expenses.

According to the fourth annual CEIR Index Report, the exhibition industry grew 4.8% in 2006 over 2005 levels, just slightly below the 5.8% gain posted by the industry in 2005 versus 2004, but marking the fourth consecutive year of industry growth. Additionally, the results for the industry surpassed overall U.S. economic growth of 3.4% in 2006.

Cable operators and Vonage are driving continuing growth in the US residential Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone market, according to In-Stat. According to data from the high-tech market research firm’s US Residential VoIP Market Tracker service, more than 10.6 million US households now have at least one active VoIP user, up from approximately 9 million households at the end of Q3.

56% of U.S. adult workers believe America is unprepared to compete in a global economy according to a new Workplace Insights survey commissioned by Adecco. Further, three-quarters of employed adults (76%) agree that today's U.S. employers do not invest enough in training and development to keep the U.S. workforce competitive with those in other countries.

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, which had marginally increased in January, improved in February. The Index now stands at 112.5 (1985=100), up from 110.2 in January. The Present Situation Index increased to 139.0 from 133.9. The Expectations Index edged up slightly to 94.8 from 94.4 last month.
