Data from PriceGrabber.com shows that online consumers are taking advantage of promotions on popular electronics including: LCD and Plasma TV's, Blu-Ray Disc Players, Digital SLR Cameras, Laptops, and Video Game Consoles.

Debt Settlement USA, a debt settlement company, reported that the Consumer Debt Index (CDI) for the third quarter of this year stood at 13.55, up more than 6.5 percent since the end of the second quarter and nearly 30 percent since the third quarter last year.

It's the time of year again for eggnog, good cheer and of course, a bit of online holiday shopping in the office. Nearly one-third (29 percent) of workers, in line with last year's findings, plan to holiday shop online while at work this year, but it may be best saved for lunch hours or break times; half of employers report they monitor the Internet use of employees. This is according to a new survey from CareerBuilder.com conducted between August 21 and September 9, 2008, among more than 5,600 U.S. workers and more than 3,000 hiring managers and HR professionals.

Stockings may not be as stuffed this year, as new research from Mintel reports that three in five Americans (60%) say they’re trying to stick to a budget more this year than they were last year. In an exclusive consumer survey done to understand budget shopping habits, Mintel found that over half of people in all income groups are trying to budget their money more than they did in 2007.

A survey conducted by youth opinion research company NODE RESEARCH found that 84% of America's 39 Million 9 to 17 year olds are very or somewhat worried about current economic conditions. More than half of all kids and teens expect that economic conditions will affect the amount of gifts they find under their Christmas tree. While the government might bail out Wall Street, there is no expectation of help for Holiday shopping on main street ... with a recession in Wii's, iPods and clothing expected.

For the first time, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index™ has released the Thriving-Struggling-Suffering Index for Americans revealing that, in the first two weeks of November 2008, the average number of struggling Americans hit 60 percent, a rise of 14 percent from the beginning of 2008. At the same time, the weekly average of Americans thriving hit a new low of 36 percent. The Index reflects both how people view their lives up to now and their prospects over the next five years.
