Over half of US adults who only use a mobile phone are younger than 30, according to a Harris Interactive study conducted between October and December 2006. In fact, a third of 18-to-29-year-olds use only a mobile phone or the Internet for their calls.

The U.S. Import Price Index rose 0.9 percent in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported, following a 1.4 percent advance in April. Higher prices for both petroleum and nonpetroleum imports contributed to the increase. Export prices also advanced in May, rising 0.1 percent after a 0.3 percent increase the previous month.

High-definition television (HDTV) market is set to explode, with 78 percent of consumers saying their next TV will be an HDTV. Entering the back-to-school, football and holiday shopping seasons, Americans are clearly on the prowl for HDTVs, while also reporting that women are driving more purchases, bigger screens are better (especially for households with kids) and flat panels are favored.

Internet advertising in the United States continues to be both a major business in the Digital Marketplace as well as providing the funding for most of the Internet services consumer use. As U.S. marketers keep moving budgets from the traditional media onto the net, IDC forecasts that Internet advertising will grow about three times as fast as advertising overall during the forecast period. The overall revenue of Internet advertising will grow from $16.9 billion in 2006 to $31.3 billion in 2011 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.5%.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported on productivity and costs for selected service-providing and mining industries in 2005. Labor productivity, defined as output per hour, rose in approximately two-thirds of the 42 industries studied, about the same as in 2004. Unit labor costs declined in 17 out of 42
industries. Over the long term period of 1987 to 2005, labor productivity increased in more industries than in 2005, and unit labor costs declined in fewer.
